Always used Top Spot Plus prior, but our Vet told us he doesn't sell it any longer because Walmart sells the same product (same ingredients) for less. Purchased some of that, and it just didn't work-------so back to the vet. Purchased TRIFEXIS ON 3-1-12. Came home, fed the dog, as this has to be taken with a full meal, (canned food a real treat, but knew he would eat) and gave him the pill. No problems with side effects, though he did seem a little sluggish, but no vomiting or tremors as stated in many other reviews. Now, this is 3-5-12, and this morning I am still finding live fleas, 5 so far. I vacuum and mop everyday, wash and dry what ever he lays on daily. I even fill up the laundry tub with warm water, and practically drown him daily. I realize this is the first dose of this pill, however I am not... My dog has been on Trifexis for over a year now and the pill works great! I haven't seen a flea in over a year and prior to this pill we had a summer (in 2010) here in Louisiana that was really bad with fleas. She is a small dog and I literally had to give her a flea bath every night bc she would have up to 40 fleas on her. This really is a miracle pill!! I recently had adopted a female dog from a shelter and we got a huge surprise-she was pregnant. We obviously let her have the puppies..all 9 of them. We ended up with a nasty flea problem in the house and on the other dog and cats because we couldn't treat her for fleas because she was pregnant and then after the puppies were born we couldn't treat her because she was feeding them and the puppies were too young. The poor little puppies were covered in fleas despite many bathes and using the fleas comb on them. As soon as the pups were 7 1/2 weeks old I went to the vet and he gave us Trifexis for the puppy we kept. I feed him his breakfast the next day and gave him the pill. I was AMAZED at how fast the fleas were falling off of the pup and they were dead or dying!! He didn't have any side effects and the product is working great.
