I'll note 3 things:1)The smell is quite intense at 1st. I recommend putting in on outside and taking the dog for a walk. Past the initial smell it's really quite pleasant, and my wife started to call our dog "our mobile room freshener". 2)The ugly truth is it left a yellow stripe down my dalmatian mix's back. If your dog is white it will leave a yellow stain. With later applications I did find I could apply it to his spots, but he is nearly spotless, and his few spots aren't large. Plus these stains remained for months. (It should be noted that pesticide based treatments will also stain him for shorter periods of time.) 3)It seems to work well he doesn't have fleas, or ticks. Plus the smell is rather pleasant. All and all if it didn't make my dog look like he had been urinated on this would be 4-5 stars. PS- I've noticed staining with the spray version as well. Thank goodness for Natural Defense. We have been struggling with the other poisonous options on our two shih-tzus. Poor Henry was having terrible & frightening reactions to them. With Natural Defense, the dogs have no reaction when we apply it, and we've not had fleas or ticks -- and this is the second month we've used it.Only minor downside is the strong smell for the first few days after application. It's not a bad smell -- just spicy. My husband says it smells like "Christmas." Well, Christmas on over-drive. I've used this soley on our Siberian Huskies since last spring, we have only had one single flea since November of 2008 and that was when we were using Frontline Plus. My dogs seem to have no problems with the other pesticide laden topicals however I break out if I even touch them within 2 weeks of applying them. That isn't something I can live with. I have no problem with the smell, honestly I like it. One of our Huskies is mainly white with a small amount of grey and I have seen no noticeable staining of her coat, she has even competed in shows within 3 days of an application. If your animal gets greasy, you are probably applying too much in one place. I usually make three strips of it down their backs one in the center and then one each side of it about an inch away from the first. I apply it at night before they go to bed in their crates, the next morning I use a bristle brush to help work any remaining oil into their coats as I've said above I have shown dogs within 3 days of an...
