We treat the animals by weight(you can find this info on-line) using the large dog size. It is exactly the same ingredients as the cat one just different dosage. Advantage II is even better! It kills fleas quicker and kills the eggs too. We used to use Frontline Plus but was seeing adult fleas in 1-2 weeks. I am glad we changed to this product. Price is great too. I've been happily using these types of flea medications for 10 years. BUT, I'd given up over the last two years on Advantage and Frontline. They both seemed to have NO EFFECT. Maybe the fleas in my area had become immune? I tried the others from the local big box store, they didn't work either. I thought I'd try this "advantage II", maybe Bayer had changed the forumulation? To my surprise - it worked great! I have two 60 lb dogs (shepherd and golden retriever) who were miserable this summer, as was I, because neither my Shepherd nor I enjoyed weekly baths to try to control the fleas. This stuff is magic. No more fleas on my pets or in my carpets. Thought I was getting a really good deal with 1000 but I have to use twice as many as with my usual brand. I was using 1 per 10 lbs.; these require 2 per 10 lbs. So I must use twice as many so it is not nearly the bargain I thought. But the worse part is that liver and peanut butter are both listed in the description above ingredients and neither of these are listed on the ingredients on the bottle. The ingredients on the bottle are: Brewer's Dried Yeast, Montmoriilonite Clay, Diccalcim Phospahate, Garlic, Natureal Flavoring, Stearic Acid, Silica Aerogel, Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil, Magnesium, Stearate, Dried Whey, Vegetable Oil, Niacin supplement. Riblflavin, Ascorbic Acid, and Thiamine Mononitrate. I am not even sure some of this this stuff is good for my dogs. Will have to figure out what the heck all this is. I may be sending it back. A few years ago this stuff was mint for getting rid of fleas; today it's been watered down a bit and not as effective and yet the price hasn't reflected the dilution. That said, relative, it's still one of the best products on the market. Personally, I opt to giving all my animals a good haircut and putting a little light and sunshine on their skin for our summer months and opt to use Ovitrol (which stinks to high heaven so spray outside) but knocks fleas dead on the spot; however won't last more than a week. The beauty of thinning their coats is to use less insecticide and target where its needed most. I'm done wasting my time on home remedies and God knows whatever else folks say work...anything from dirt to lemons to garlic to farts...we own dogs and we depend on their "alarm" barks given where we live. If you've got the money get Frontline in tubes or in bulk and measure the dose out yourself; otherwise the bottle stuff I give a grade of B..buy the largest amount you can... This review is from: Frontline Dog Flea Relief Spray 500ml Bottle (Misc.) This is the best flea spray that I have ever used. I have been using it for at least 7 years. It has got a little more expensive, I used to get it for about $40 for the 500ml bottle, now it is up to $50, but still well worth it. The protection is excellent, works very well. I had 2 big dogs, I would spray them lightly and wear rubber gloves to rub it in once every month, and the bottle would last a year, they never had fleas or bugs on them. These were inside dogs, but they would often go out into the back yead and lay on the grass or dirt for hours. I would also treat my backyeard with Tallstar Fine Granules (Bifinthrin .015%) every 2 months, except in the winter, to keep all bugs out of the back yard. I am now down to one dog, so the 500ml bottle should last me about 2 years. It is a good plan, I never have a problem with fleas, ticks or bugs.
