It is supposed to help prevent mites and sarcoptic mange(sp?) but, my vet informed me it does not. And with the heat being the way it is they are bad in my area. It did however for the first week after applying it, I hadn't seen any fleas. But, my vet applied Revolution to my dog after a week of having Fiproguard. I have heard many people and my Vet say that Front line Plus is no longer working to help with fleas. Fiproguard is just the generic of Front Line. it is OK to a point..., Rich - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: FIPROGUARD PLUS Dog & Puppy Topical Flea & Tick Treatment (Misc.) I have never used Frontline Plus. This is supposed to be an identical "generic" product at a price discount. My soulmate's weight is right at the very top of the labelled 44 - 88 pound range of usage. The product works awesome from about 12 hours after application thru about 2 1/2 weeks - then, not so much. that is a long way from the proclaimed 4 week effectiveness. These beneficial products ARE poisons and I am afraid to re-apply every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. Knowing whether an 88 Lb dog is getting the proper dosage, or half the dosage for such a big labelled disparity would be a huge benefit in my decision making process as the VET has been very wishy-washy on the subject... I have been giving my soulmate a flea shampoo 3 weeks after the topical application which works for about a week. I would love to hear from some professionals whether getting a bigger doggie application, or re-applying every 3 weeks, or continuing what I am doing is suggested for me... We always use Advantage for our animals but Fiproguard was on sale at PetSmart and there was a large display near the register. We used it and my one cat foamed at the mouth and vomited for 4 days. The other cat hallucinated, ran into walls, bit all of his back claws down so far that they bled and now has permanent nerve damage in his eyes. The only positive on this med is that it kills fleas. It almost killed my animals. The vet had no idea what Fiproguard was and had never heard of it. I recommend using Advantage which is what the vet recommends as well. |
